So i have an idea to make a new spoon for each day of the year. It is not an original idea but it is new to me. During the course of the year i hope to talk about not just the techniques tools and woods that i use but also the process of design. I have been reading David Pye's book on the The nature and art of workmanship. Specifically the concept of the aesthetics of risk. I love the idea that no piece of work is predetermined. That each is subject to manipulation by the craftsman or womans hand and eye. as effected by all the stimuli that surrounds them that everything may have an effect on the final product. Time of day for example or mood. The weather maybe or any one of the million thoughts that pass through ones mind during a day.
